20 Bowls

Featured in Home and furniture , Business and Franchises under $5,000, Texas

General description

20 Bowls was created in August of 2017 as a side venture from my day to day work. The premise behind it is for every 1 bamboo bowl we sell we donate 20 meals to people in need within the United States. This is done through the charity ‘Feeding America’. This costs $2 per bowl. When this all started I reached out to bamboo bowl creators in China and we worked on a design. We came up with the two designs seen on the website. The bowls come with the 20 Bowls logo etched in and are completely glossed. I purchased 400 bowls total (200 of each design) and 20 Bowls was born. There are currently 365 bowls remaining to be sold and they are included in the price of the store. Many of the purchased bowls were sold through the active Twitter account I created. The account currently has 3,500 followers and our pinned tweet currently has 286 retweets that was kick-started via some help from friends but has taken off over time.

Financials and traffic

Currently I am not marketing this website due to my lack of knowledge regarding Facebook ads. Also I am very low on time with my other businesses as well.

Q & A

Why should someone buy this store?

The bowls on the store are very high quality and its a product anyone would be happy to own. All of the hard work has already been done. Designing the website, designing and getting the bowls shipped, having product photos taken, creating a promotional video, and even building social media. The bowls are worth nearly $5,000 wholesale and $10,000-$20,000 retail. Brands that donate to a cause are currently blowing up and there is little to no competition in this market. Sadly I have no time to continue this venture and I would like to transfer my store and inventory to someone passionate about it.

How can the future owner improve the business?

Personally I am not very good at facebook ads. Therefore many of my sales derived from Twitter. If the future owner is well versed in Facebook ads or is willing to learn them they can have massive amounts of success in this realm. I believe 20 Bowls has a respectable website but there is definite room for visual improvement. Just as an idea the future owner can add more bowls which can be drop shipped. This would give customers a few more options and could add a bit more depth to the website.

What work have you put into the store?

Before 20 Bowls launched in 2017 I put a large bulk of work into going back and forth with the manufacturers in China and designing everything and ensuring safe and proper shipment. After the bowls were received I paid to have professional photos taken as well as a promotional video made. I also grew the Instagram account to 30,000 followers and the Twitter account to 3,500.
