Budget Medical Supplies
I originally opened Budget Medical Supplies with the desire to shift the way medical and healthcare products are purchased online. In my research I found that all similar companies had a warehouse approach to selling these products, "here are 1,000's of products, hope you find what you are looking for", and I wanted to shift this dynamic to a situational focus, "I am bringing my mother into my home to be her caregiver, what do I need to make her feel safe?". I still believe in this direction, but unfortunately I don't have the time today to make the shift in behavior.
The site will include a Facebook page and store, full Pinterest profile (biggest traffic driver today), a YouTube channel, MailChimp, and Twitter accounts. All products are fulfilled through a drop ship company Complete Medical Supplies (buyer will need to set up an account with them), so no inventory is held by Budget Medical Supplies.
All category introduction copy is original content, and there is much more original content that is not currently being used on the site that will be included in the sale. There are currently about 1,500 products in the Shopify store, about a 1,000 being actively sold. Of the products being actively sold about 70% have original title and description tags, and 90% of images have appropriate alt tags - all for SEO purposes.
I believe someone who has time to build out focused marketing plans, tests and optimizes the experience, and actively manages customer outreach could be very successful with the store.
