BACKGROUND OF THE BRANDS
New Zealand designed DOOSH was launched in the mid-'90s and rapidly became popular in the club and music scene - known for its unique style and pants. In the '00s it expanded on that popularity and evolved into a broader appeal streetwear label adding denim, jackets, hoodies, tops, dresses, knitwear and so on. By the end of the '00s the pair of brands were delivering a multimillion-dollar wholesale revenue stream to their parent company. However, lingering effects of the GFC and management/operational missteps along with poor cash flow/AR management led to the DOOSH brand and associated IP being acquired by the current owner in 2012 (and Sable and Minx ultimately being acquired in 2017).
CURRENT COMMERCIAL OPERATION
DOOSH pants have remained the core of the DOOSH brand and well-loved styles like the Toby, Scratch 3/4, Roadrunner and Dalston are still very popular today, years after their original introductions - still attracting new customers and driving repeat. In 2013, the present owner reproduced a core set of DOOSH women's and men's styles and the brand was moved to primarily an online business model (online exclusively since early 2016). It has traded profitably with that same dozen or so styles since that time - run by one person, part-time, producing a supplemental income.
