We started Liberty Mfg Co as a way to sell the couches we manufacture directly to consumers. Our family has been manufacturing couches for the last 70 years right in Los Angeles. Our wholesale customers have included some of the biggest names in furniture like Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Crate and Barrel and more. Our goal with Liberty was to create a retailer that could sell these high quality sofas without the big retail store price tag. Our other angles were that our couches are made from sustainable materials, and everything is made in Los Angeles USA. We've been running the business without too much effort or investment for the last 3 years.
The business is run essentially on a drop-ship model. Where customers place an order, and the PO is sent directly to the manufacturer who takes care of fulfillment. This makes daily management hours of the business relatively low.
We are selling because the wholesale manufacturer, which is their primary business, has stopped couch production. The reason is to free up production capacity to meet increased demand for their non-couch products. The new direction for the manufacturing side led the owners to determine that they don't have the time to commit to growing the Liberty store and brand.
The sale includes the site/store, domains, social media accounts, customer reviews, and all the professional photography that went into it.
