Last year we discovered that Dan (my husband and co-founder) has Multiple Sclerosis. We've had an amazing run but his diagnosis made us re-evaluate our lifestyle and where we'd like to focus our energy moving forward and we've made the tough decision to step away from the store. We are so proud of what we've achieved and the relationships we created with our brands, partners and our customers. They brought a life and heart to the emporium and have been the most rewarding aspect of everything we do.
The Happy Emporium is a New Zealand based GST registered limited liability company with myself and Daniel as the only shareholder/directors. There is no debt structure.
We have zero employees however all of our software integrations streamline our operations. We run a perpetual inventory system (trade gecko) that connects to the store, fulfilment system, payment gateways and our Accounting platform (xero). have been established to streamline for growth. We’re an online only store who’s run the occasional pop-up shop/sale at events in the past-more as a fun marketing exercise and chance to connect with customers in person.

We have just completed liquidating all our stock on the assumption that a new buyer would prefer minimal stock on hand to begin with. There are no current forward orders placed with designers however Autumn Winter 18 collections are shown to buyers starting July with that stock starting to drop in March 18. It’s also worth mentioning that a lot of our existing suppliers can supply in just 2-3 weeks year round i.e jewellery and homeware brands.
