Unhinged Boutique was started back in January 2015 with an idea of bringing affordable fashion not only in my local area of Palm Beach, FL but throughout the United States. I started the company out of my home as a way to give competitive retail pricing, while giving back 5% to a charity helping women who are suffering from breast cancer. I chose to do this after my mother passed away in 2013 as a way to pay tribute in her honor.
Within 6 months in business not only made back my money but I turned around a profit and started to sell throughout not only the United States but around the world. I have a large following in Canada, England and recently Australia and to a point that it takes little to zero effort to make daily sales. The name has been a huge hit and easy to remember, and I own the rights to all social media and website with a simple "Unhinged Boutique" without additional numbers or symbols.
I focused extremely hard on social media to grow Unhinged Boutique to where it is today. With starting as an online only boutique it was my way of "bringing people in the door." With the help of Pinterest, I am the #1 pin for our "Moto Jeggings" and is my best seller with daily sales. I have 3,400 legitimate Instagram followers & over 1k Facebook followers. I was never strong in the twitter side of things with 100 followers. My "pop up" subscription for e-blast has a list of 1,811 people and that does not include our customer list to add in to the system.
I traveled to many of the large clothing markets from Vegas, Atlanta & Dallas including our local markets in West Palm Beach and Miami. I used Etsy as a way to find local and unique jewelry pieces.
Including in the cost of my website & social media, I held onto inventory and plan to send off all my inventory along with information on all my suppliers I have met through markets for reorder.
Unhinged Boutique has came far enough that it needs to be taken to a brick and mortar store, but I am not ready to make the commitment especially in the Palm Beach area. I have been contemplating just closing shop but hesitated losing my 2,721 online customers, along with my social media that has grown the site to such magnitude. I have undervalued my boutique because I am ready to move on and focus on our construction company. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to start a boutique, or has a store front and unsure of how to bring on a fully developed and successful online base.
