The Wild Folk Co is an adventure brand geared toward children and their families. We began by making soft soled shoes for babies and toddlers, and expanded to include graphic tees and other products that place an emphasis on play, adventure, and the outdoors.
We have a sizeable social media following, and I just couldn't keep up with product demand while maintaining social media presence due to personal reasons.
With the introduction of professional screen printing services, it will now be much easier for someone to incorporate the graphic tees and other products (or shift the focus of the business to eliminate the handmade shoes to only the graphic tees if desired).
Included would be our soft sole shoe patterns if you so choose to retain that portion of what we offer to be made yourself or hired out to a seamstress. There is still a large demand for our products, I just did not have the time to maintain the business anymore due to personal reasons.
Financials and traffic
When soft soled shoes are the main staple of the business, there is approximately an 80% profit margin. Our leather pacifier clips have an 80% profit margin and are quickly and easily produced. With farmed out printed products, there is approximately a 40-50% profit margin. My sales numbers listed are over the course of our existence on Shopify only (2 years), though we used a different website before that, and used Etsy for a while instead of shopify when I was too busy to rely on social media for marketing. I rarely run ads, business is mainly from our social media following and word of mouth. Numbers listed for the last 12 months appear low because I have been mainly on Etsy and treating the business as more of a hobby due to fear of becoming overwhelmed with business again. You can easily see from the graph below the months during which I placed the shopify website on hold due to overwhelm, as there are no sales. Our website traffic pretty much always correlates to sales as our products are in demand.

I do not currently utilize advertising other than our social media presence alone, which costs nothing. The shopify exchange is making me put at least $1 per month for subscription costs, and advertising costs, but I have always used the free version of mail chimp and have only used ads during black friday week.
There is much demand for this store for someone who has the time for it. We have a large social media following, and do not even utilize facebook or instagram ads. I backed away from this store for the better part of 2017 just due to being completely overwhelmed with business. If someone were to put efforts into this store, or even get a partner/hire a seamstress/social media manager it could be very well worth it. We've built an adventure brand with a loyal following that could be easily shifted into a children's or adult's adventure brand.
How can the future owner improve the business?
All that is needed here is a bit of effort and commitment, which I unfortunately, due to personal reasons, do not have the time for. Finding a team of brand enthusiasts to whom you offer exclusive discounts has worked extremely well in the past for promotion. All of our shoe patterns will come with the business if you choose to retain the soft soled shoe line.
What work have you put into the store?
I have built a large social media following which has been the main source of sales for the business. I cannot imagine the increase in sales you might have if you utilize advertising and SEO.
